Jim Burgess loved his 1966 Mustang Fastback. After many years, its earlier restoration was beginning to show its age, with visible cracks and shrinkage in the paint. He came to That’s Minor Customs hoping for a cost-effective refresh.
The team disassembled the car and began preparing the affected areas. While feathering the old finish and blowing away sanding dust, they found paint lifting from the car. Frank brought Jim into the shop so he could see the problem firsthand and understand the options.
Jim decided he wanted the old finish stripped and the car redone. What began as a refresh became a body-on restoration. The work covered the body and engine compartment; the underbody was not included in this project.
The team stripped, refinished, sanded, buffed and reassembled the Mustang in about four months for Autorama. For Jim, the result was a new chapter for a car he already loved. For the shop, the story starts with showing the owner what the work revealed and agreeing on the next step together.

Every build has a beginning. For Frank and his dad, this 1937 Ford began as a father-and-son project found at a local hot rod shop in St. Clair Shores.
It was a fiberglass shell sitting on a chassis, with no doors, no fenders and no glass. With help from friends, they built it together.
Hear Frank tell the beginning of the story and take a closer look at the engine, interior and details of the car today.

This car is part of the story of That’s Minor Customs. There’s more of that story still to come.

We handled the bodywork and paint on Stan Jesionowski’s truck over 12 years ago. Seeing that red and silver out in the sunshine today brings back a lot of memories—and gives the crew at That’s Minor Customs plenty to smile about.
The best part is seeing a customer out enjoying a vehicle we helped bring to life. Stan, we’re proud to have been part of your truck’s story. Great to see you cruising!
